SHOIE BetB UhD2R POWER LINE TOWER Ac shout 3:00 p.m. (MST). January 16, 1980, a driver, who was delivering =aterial to the Yort St. Vrain aire, noted a box under. a power line tower located about 3/4 mile from the site.
The licences dispatched personnel to the scene and the box was initially deter =ined to be bcz=b device. The licensee removed powcr from this sec-tion'of the line. The Weld County Sheriff's Departent was notified. With Ordin-ance nazistsace, the device was determined to be a military smaka bceb, which is co=monly used by vselons branchea of the military.
(The device was not triggered to function.) The device vaz stmo co the Fort Carson Army Base and an attempt to dete==.ine the source of the device is in progress.
Region IV was initially nocified at 4:15 p.m.
(CST) on January 16, 1980, and was provided additional information at 9:00 a.m. (CST) on January 17, 1980.

The Fort St. Vrain plant is a high tssperaturc gas cooled resceor. The plant is in a shutdown nude for the replacecent of a helium circulator.
