Docket Nos. STN 50-522 and STN 50-523 Gentlemen:
On October 26, 1979, the NRC Staff filed a Motion to Postpone Hearings which was based, in part, on a new Commission policy regarding emergency planning that would necessitate all Construction Permit (CP) applicants to provide addi-tional information to the Staf f for its evaluation. Attached to the Staff's Motion to Postpone Hearings was a copy of a Ictter dated October 23, 1979 which was sent by the Staff to the Applicant requesting the additional information.
By letter dated December 26, 1979, the NRC Staff requested further information regarding estimates for evacuation of various areas around nuclear power plants.
This letter is attached for your information along with the proposed rule on emergency planning to amend the current regulation on this subject set forth in 10 CFR Part 50.
In addition, since the subject of radon is still an outstanding issue in this proceeding, we are enclosing correspondence dated December 21, 1979 which per-tains to new information from Battelle Pacific Northwest Laboratories regarding their latest results from research measurements of radon releases from underground uranium mines.
Sincerely,
