20555 RE: Yankee Rowe - Fire Protection Review items 3.1.4, 3.1.5, 3.1.6, 3.2.2 and 3.2.5.
Dear Bob:
The following is part of the " catch-up" item that Mario Antonetti is reviewing prior to the end of the year.
e Item 3.1.4 Water Sucoression System The design criteria for the Water Suppression Systems under 3.1.4 are acceptable except for minor details the licensee will submit by January 15, 1980. Upon receipt of these items, a review will be conducted and an appropriate letter written.
e Item 3.1.5 Foam Suopression System Design criteria for this item was submitted by the utility August 14, 1978. Upon receipt of this information in subsequent submittals, a review was conducted. We recommend that item 3.1.5 " Foam Suppression System" be accepted.
e Item 3.1.6 Gas Suppression System Design criteria for this item was submitted by the utility on August 14, 1978. The general design criteria for gas suppression systems in the switchgear room and cable vault was acceptable except for the design criteria for the detection system actuation scheme for these systems.
The utility is considering our recommendations and will respond in writing.
The proposed gas suppression system in the diesel day tank room in the crib house is being deleted. An automatic sprinkler system will be provided in lieu of this gas suppression system. This change is accept-able. Th's item is still open.

December 28, 1979 Certain items under the 3.2 Section of the SER required further study or evaluation before comitment or comment could be made by the licensee.
Item 3.2.2 " Fire Retardant Coatings" has been resolved through telecons with the licensee. The proposed agreement will be submitted by the licensee in January 1980.
Upon receipt of this infonnation a supplement item to the SER will be written.
Under Item 3.2.5 " Gas Suppression System Actuation" the licensee will submit by January 10, 1980 coments on our proposal for a maximum of two detector actuationsof the various gas suppression systems.
This concludes Mario Antonetti's " catch-up" review. To the best of our knowledge there are no more verbal comitments to be documented. Since the comitments were made with Leo Derderian and Ernie Sylvester, please advise us if your records concur.
If you find there are still more " catch-up" items open, please advise us in time to meet the target date of January 7,1980.
Respectfully yours, 72f<
