Response to IE Bulletin 79-23

Dear Mr. Seyfrit:

This letter is written in response to IE Bulletin 79-23, Potential Failare of Emergency Diesel Generator Field Exciter Transformer. The following items address the two licensee actions to be taken as de-scribed in the subject bulletin.

Item 1 It has been determined that no direct connection exists between the neutrals of the excitation power transformer and the emergency dicscl generator, nor are the neutrals grounded in common.

Item 2 The 1. ad test described in the bulletin has been performed on both emergency diesel generators since receipt of the bulletin. The test results were satisfactory. Records of the tests are available for review at Cooper Nuclear Station.
