CH ATTANOOG A. TENNESSEE 374o1 400 Chestnut Street Tower II November 30, 1979 Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention:
Mr. Donald E. Sells, Acting Branch Chief Environmental Projects Branch 2 Division of Site Safety and Environmental Analysis U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555
Dear Mr. Sells:
In the Matter of the Application of
)
Docket Nos. STN 50-518 Tennessee Valley Authority
)
STN 50-519 STN 50-520 STN 50-521 In accordance with item 7 of section 4.5.2 of Construction Permit Nos. CPPR-150, CPPR-151, CPPR-152, and CPPR-153 issued on May 9, 1977, for the Hartsville Nuclear Plants, enclosed is the required information related to transmission line construction.
The location of the transmission line corridors are shown on the enclosed topographic maps (Enclosure 1).
The transmission line rights-of-way have been surveyed for potential environme.ntal impacts including archeological and historical significance, and a threatened and endangered species review. These surveys will allow TVA to locate, design, and construct the transmission line facilities in the most environmentally preferable manner.
Field investigations have defined environmentally ser.sitive areas that require specific attention (other than protection covered by TVA's general construction clearing procedures, Enclosure 2). These sensitive areas have been defined in three major categories:
1.
Cedar Glade communities, 2.
major highway crossings, and 3.
river crossings.

In these sections the trees shall be cut at ground level or in no case shall the stump exceed 3 inches in height. The Contractor shall make no cuts or fills that will change the natural drainage of the right of way.
2.
Dnneer trees - All trees which, in the opinien of TVA, which by reason of storms or other natural causes may fall against or in anyway constitute a dangerous hazard to the transmission line and/or tcwer or poles, shall be denoted as DANGER TREES and such shall be cut not more than 6 inches above the natural surface and removed and disposed of by the Contractor in the most practical and feasible manner, whether or not such trees shall be on or off the actual right of way.
3 Fences - TVA vill furnish 1 gate, 2 posts, and 2 braces, to be put in as directed by TVA, in fences crossing the right of way.
Material vill be delivered to a central point to be picked up as needed by Contractor. All fences must be maintained during the course of work and all gates kept closed. Damages to fences or barricades enclosing 1574 066
