Dear Mr. MacDsald:
Subject. NRC Certificate of Compliance USA /5768/AF, Revision 1 The subject NRC Certificate of Canpliance for the BB-250-2 shipping container is due to expire on November 30, 1979.
- ? hen we applied for renewal of this certificate on June 19, 1979, we received a reply frun you on July 2,1979, informing us that Canbustion Engineering had been requested to subnit a consolidated application for renewal of the certificate. However, on Septenber 5,1979, we received a telephone call frun your office infonning us that Canbustion Engineering did not intend to subnit this application.
Having discussed the matter with other licensees interesting in use of the BB-250-2, related to subnittal of a consolidated application for this renew ~al, I have concluded that subnittal of a consolidated application by the expiration date of the certificate (11/30/79) is not practical due to the short time span involved.
Therefore, I am requesting that the expiration date for the NRC Certificate of Canpliance USA /5768/AF for the BB-250-2 container be extended for ninety
.V (90) days until February 28, 1980. This will allow enough time for subnittal of a consolidated application in canpliance with your request.
It is my understanding that B&W plars to subnit this consolidated application.
Pursuant to 10 CFR 170.31, a General Electric check for $15v is enclosed for processing this request.
Your pranpt action on this request would be appreciated. GE personnel would be pleased to discuss this matter further with you and your staff, as you may deen necessary.
