Dear Mr. Harris:
We have received your letter of June 19, 1969 concerning the Three Mile Island Nuclear Station, Unit 1.
Folleving review by the staff of the Atomic Energy Commission's Divisien of Reac-tor Licensing, and an independent review by the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards, a public hearing va? conducted by an Atcmic Safety and Licensing Board at Middletevn, Pennsylvania en April 10-11, 1%8. A provisicnal constructicn pernit was issued May 18, 1968, and the plant is now under construction.
We regret that we cannot supply all of the information that you requested ia your letter.
However, we can refer you to the Pre-liminary Safety Analysis Report submitted by the Metropolitan Biison Ccepany, as follova:

Information en utilication of the Susquehanna River is contained in Volume 4, paces 2 5-1 through 2 5-8.

Information concerning releases of radicactivity is contained in Volume 2, Chapters 11 and lk.
3 Informaticn concerning the research and development to be conducted for this plant is contained in Volume 1, Chapter 1 and Volune h, pages h.h-1 through 4.4-13, pages 513-1 through 513-8, pages 16.4-1 through 16.4-3, and pages 17.4-1 thrcugh 17 4-8.
The iodine spray system is discussed as a research and development item in the material referenced above.

Information concerning River Life is contained in Volume 4, page 2.6-2.
An independent evaluation was prepared by the Fish and Wildlife Service of the United States Deparment of the Interior. Their report was attached to the Atomic Energy Ccemission's Safety Evalua-tion as Appendix G, dated Februar/' 5, 1968.
