Dear Congressman Shuster:
This is in regard to your memorandum of May 10, 1979, concerning an inquiry from Dr. Donald Lovell in regard to the Three Mile Island incident.
I apologize for not providing this response to you sooner but, as you are aware, the Commission and staff have been occupied with continued support of the efforts at Three Mile Island, Orders to other facilities, appearances before the President's Commission and various committees of Congress that are investigating the Three Mile Island accident, and the realignment of our own resources and priorities to give imediate attention to the problems resulting from the accident.
I am enclosing a copy of a recently issued interagency report of preliminary estimates of population radiation dose and health impact of the incident.
It describes the radiological monitoring programs and results so far.
As you know, the Commission is continuing its investigations as well as con-sidering recomendations submitted by various groups. Additional reports will be issued. Enclosed also is a copy of a list of publications and documents available on the Three Mile Island, Unit 2 incident.
The list will be up-dated as further reports become available.
