Dear Mr. MacDonald:
The Savannah River Operations Office, Department of Energy, has indicated a willingness to accept our R-3 reactor fuel, MTR-type. The Institute for Resource Management, Bethesda, Maryland, will plan and implement this shipment task for the University. The Battelle Colum-bus Lab Cask BMI-l will be used.
In accordance with 10 CFR 71.12b, it is requested that the North Carolina State University at Raleigh, James R. Bohannon, Jr., Nuclear Operations Administrator, be listed as a user for the BMI-l cask.
The user will be the North Carolina State University at Raleigh; License No. R-63, the expiration date has been extended per letter from Robert W. Reid, Chief Operating Reactors Branch # 4, Division of Operating Reactors, dated 9 February 1979.
All documents referenced in the Certificate of Compliance and the certificate itself are in our posession.
The certificate is No. 5957, Revision 4.
The expiration date is 30 November 1980. The Docket Number is 71-5957.
The package identification number is USA /5957/3 ( )F.
A QA program applicable to the use of the BMI-l cask in this shipment of the R-3 reactor fuel to SROC will be transmitted by separate letter.
