TMI News Center and Region i PAO Operations The PA0 will return to the Philadelphia area late Saturday morning.
He will leave his radio page in the Region 1 Public Affairs Office for use by j
Clyde Wisner (Region IV), who will be manning the Region 1 PA Office Monday through Wednesday, May 14-16. Abraham is taking three days ccmp time leave, and will retur-to werk Thursday morning, May 17, in Region 1.
The telephone answering machine in the TMI News Center should be tested ence each evening by calling 717/ 367-1936. If the machine is not wcrking, or if the message is incorrect, the Duty Officer should contact the Administrative Trailer at TMI (590-3970) an FTS number, or 717/ 782-3970, where the ADM staff has a key to the news center trailer and can correct the prcblem.
The recorded answer for the public will refer callers to the Region 1 PA Office during the day and to the Region 1 Duty Officer during non-working hours. Collect calls will be accepted fr om the public. The caller may be asked to give his or her nu=ber, but that is not mandatory for the call to be accepted. Please make an entry in your phone log as follows: " citizen-PAO call," so that we can later check to see how extensively this service has been used and its approximate costs.

Independent Measurements on Radwaste Liquid Discharges Objectives: To independently measure the radioactivity concentrations in liquid radwaste discharge streams.
Background:
Unit 1 control room notifies NRC Turbine Deck - Maintenance Office of all proposed liquid releases to the river.
Since public interest is high in this crea, we are instituting a formal procedure to obtain independent measurements of the radioactivity concentrations in these discharge streams.
Requirements:
(1) An independent sample shall be drawn from every fourth discharge from each separate system or tank.

(2) Information on all current releases shall be obtained and maintained in a logbook at NRC Turbine Deck Office.
(3) The samples snall be taken to the Mobile Laboratory for analysis.
(4) The Mobile Laboratory personnel shall determine radio-activity concentrations in samples and transmit the results to the NRC Turbine Deck office.
(5) The results shall be compared to the licensee, entered in logbook, and a cc:ermination made whether the comparison is acceptable using criteria in MC 82745.
