?!OR:;ING REPCRT 5/ / / 79 (05001 1. DHE Upgrade - T" cameras installed and operable; accelerometers cre installed. Hydrostatic test of loop 3 completed. Small leaks were detected and repair of the leaks is in progress. A flange in the suction line to the RHR pump appears to be the biggest problem-2. Auxiliary building supplemental filter train is in service with three of four filters operating. (Third train operation was resumed at 1100 on 5/6/79.) 3. The pressurirer was taken "selid" per procedure Z-63 about 0200, and is presently holding at aboc* 1142 psig. The f our-hour " hold" will end about 0915. 4. The following attatnments are included: a. Installation of frame and plate for isolation capability and connection to existing train expected shortly. 3. Auxiliary building flow paths - supply f ans and additional exhaust fans will be started to atte=pt to reduce airborne iod ine levels (while still =aintaining negative building pressure). 4. Containment water level - now estimated at 5b feet (425,000 gallenr). Source is leakage from component cooling system and safety valves and venting losses from the pressurizer. 5. Sump pumps - both su=p pu=ps inside contain=ent are inoperable. Some other =eans will have to be found to remove sump water for cleanup. 6. ^? .ad Morning Report 4/28/79 1. Pres ;urizer level monitor LT-3 f ailed at approximately 0915, 4/27/79! after initial spurious readings approximately 8 hours earlier. Because level instrumentation in the primary system was centinuing to degrade, it was decided to place the system en natural circulation ahead of the announced schedule. H. Denton and Gov. Thornburgh were notified; the IRC was manned, d-f At 1330, 4/27/79, a by-pass valve on CSTG,"t was opened. Increased iodine levels were noted in the control room, unnecessary personnel were evacuated, and the operators went on masks. The ARMS aircraft was launched but found no iodina offsite. A xenon plume about.1 mR/hr above background was detected up to 10 miles SSE of the site. The reactor coolant pump was tripped at 1410. Natural circulation cooling was achieved. The highest TC reading during the t r an s ien t was 341 F. However, at approximately 1600 it was observed that i A T's off the hot and cold 1 cgs on OTSG A and B began to diverge.   • Doesn't correlate with strip-chart indicator attached to OTSG"A" for treniing purposes.

2. Pressurizer level (LT-3) monitor was erratic between 0030 and 0130, then returned to normal. Similar activity was exhibited by other pressurizer level indicators prior to failure. 3. Plant conditions stable: - Reactor coolant cold leg temperature approximately 223 F. - Highest thermocouple reading: 310 F. 4. The following information is attached: a.
