SUBJECT:
CONTINUING MANPCWER NEEDS FOR TMI EWIRONMENTAL GROUP As we discussed previously, the Region I FF6MT Branch will have to continue unless relieved to provide manpcr.:cr for the NRC environmental survey ef fort by EPA or DOE or this activity is terminated by the NRC.
1.
Envirorr. ental Survev Coordinator This position requires a senior health physicist (HP) with sound judgment and ability to act and to make sound decisiens in an emergency situation.
Some familiarity with environmental surveying is necessary.
(A senior Fuci Facility Project Inspector with a HP background might also fill this position.)
Somewhat subjectively, it was decided that the following Region I personnel should be considered qualified for this position.
(Reactor HP's were not included because of other demands.)

J. Glenn J. Kinneman W.'Kinney J. Kottan (will start 1-week assignment on 5/25)
M. Slobodien M. Shanbaky (will cceplete 2-week assigncent on 5/25) request that the above persons be scheduled for this position on a rotat.ing basis starting with J. Kottan's relief on 6/1/79. One-week assignments of Friday through Friday will provide adequate turnover.

Environmental Surveyor This position-requires a HP'to conduct environmental surveys. There is now only one shift to be canned f or two-week shif ts.
Region I will alternate with Regions II and III in filling this position. This position has been filled by the Materials Section. Region I will not be due to supply a person for this position until approxicately 6/19/79.

Survey Assistant This position (one) assists the HP surveyor in taking samples driving the survey car, etc.
It is my understanding tha t the Region I Safe-guards Branch will continue to provide a person for this position.
GJe have received very good cooperation in this regard so far.)
