Enclosed are copies of memo notes prepared in conjunction with early TMI recovery actions. They are:
1.
riaintain as long as possible, current mode of, cooling, i.e.,
RCP and pressurized at 160 psi with degassing taking place.
Even if level indicat?cn was lost, we would recorrend continuing in this node with the following spggestions:
a) continue to rionitor core thermal instruments - inlet and outlet temparature readings; b) keep reactor cooling pump in operation until cut-off pressure i
is reached; c) neasure system pressure (go solid but keep pressure below i
2000 psi);
d) taintain heat balance - input - makeup - heat removal; e) establish controlled depressurization of the system to a j
pressure level about atmospheric.
In the event RCP failure appeared it.minent, try to restart other i
pumps to maintain this preferred cooling node for as long as I
possible to allov decay beat level to decrease daily ( 4-5% re-duction per day).

In the event that preferred mode cannot be maintained, the

There are some aspects here that ".eed to be considered.
If the core exit therroccuples are correct then it is apparent that p
very little flow is going throug5 the core. This could be the i
result of wide spread flow blockag? (901 to 98% in all assemblies),
bI as it could be the result of. reduced core inlet flow, caused by stuck opened vent valves, plus less extensive blockage in the core (s90% blockage in 20" of the assemblies and little er no blockage in the remaining 80" of the assemblies). In either c>se core cooling will be di'ficult at the reduced flow rates I
available frca natural circulation or from the RHR pumps.
