Apparently primary coolant has been transferred to the auxiliary building at 30 gpm most of the night. At 0400 (and maybe before) it was going to the CVCS bleed (holdup) tank.

The bleed tank is vented to the waste gas decay tanks so that the XN-133 should be collected on the tanks for decay.

Failed fuel most likely 1% or could be more based on 0900 3/28 sample and core inventory. No firm containment radiation information.

12:15 3/31 Levels of radiation and contamination in the environs surrounding Three Mile Island are being constantly monitored by several different methods.

Aircraft using sensitive instruments are being used to determine' radiation and contamination levels as well as the location and size of any plumes which contain radioactivity. The aircraft also can measure deposition of radioactivity on the ground. Aircraft and ground survey teams have been following any plumes to the extent that instrumentation defects radioactivity from the reactor. The ground survey teams also measure the radioactivity levels in air, water, milk and vegetation to determine if radioactivity could enter the food chain.

In addition radiation measuring services are located at points surrounding the facility which I

l record the cumulative radiation received at those points. Weather i

conditions from several sites on the area are also being recorded for use i

in projecting the movement of any radioactivity released.

All of the above information is being used to determine the radiological impact of the releases. As quickly as survey data is received, preliminary

estimates of the doses are being made. More complex calculations will be made later to more precisely quantify radiation exposures.
