Dear Mr. Schwencer:
This letter is submitted in support of Consclidated Edison Company's response to an NRC request for information concerning fracture toughness and the potential for lamellar tearing of steam generator and reactor coolant pump support materials.
Forty (40) copies of Westinghouse report " Fracture Toughness and Design Considerations for Addressing Lamellar Tearing of Steam Generator and Reactor Coolant Pump Support Material" (Proprietary) for Consolidated Edison Company's Indian Point Unit 2 are sent under a separate transmittal.
This submittal contains Westinghouse proprietary information -- commercial and financial information which we consider privileged or confidential.
It is of a type customarily held in confidence by Westinghouse and is cus-tomarily not disclosed to the general public.
This information is being furnished in accordance with the Commission's request of October 4, 1977, pursuant to the Commission's general powers under Section 161 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1944, as amended, and pur-suant to the provis sons of Section 9.5 of the Commission's regulations.
Accordingly, it is requested that the Westinghouse proprietary information attached hereto be handled on a confidential basis and be wittiheld from public disclosure.
