Dear Mr. Kappler:
Reference (a) transmitted IE Bulletin 79-03 which requested information concerning the use of certain stainless steel pipe spools manufactured by Youngstown Welding and Engineering Company.
In reviewing the subject Bulletin, we have been informed by the piping fabricator at Byron and Braidwood Stations that it is possible that stainless steel piping welded without filler metal from Youngstown Welding and Engineering Company has been supplied to these stations.
The fabricator is in the process of reviewing the shop drawings and estimates that six to eight weeks will be required to compile a complete list of the piping affected.
Once the list is complete, Commonwealth Edison will formulate a program for examination of the piping.
