621-1669 WHAT IS THE AIR POLLUTION CONTROL LEAGUE ?

1.

The League is a ncnprcfit organization, incorporated January 29, 1906, under the laws of the State of Ohio. As provided in its By-Laws, the League is operated by a Scard of Trustees who ser/e without compensation.

2.

The League is a citizens' crganization which works continuously to advance the knowledge and practice of air pollution control throughcut the metropolitan area. It is one of the original char *er agencies of the Community Chest, from which it formerly received the maJer pertion of its financial support This support was discontinued December 31, 1969.

PURPOSE OF THE LEAGUE 3.

To conduct an intensive, continuous public educational program for air sanitation throughout the metropolitan area. To advance the cause of cleaner air and strengthen the health of the area communities. We cooperate and work closely with municipal, county, and Federal officials, and industry management.

4.

To cooperate with, and to assist in cocrdinating the efforts of govern-mental agencies, educational institutions, specialized research groups, and medical, legal, and other technologists - so that ever/ phase of air pollutien shall be the object of careful study and constractive remedial action.

5.

To inform the public pericdically concerning the nature and extent of air pollution, progress made in its elimination, and obstacles to such elimina-tion. S ceaker available - " Prctectinc Our Air Resource. "

The League wcrks to control and prevent pollution of the air from auto fumes, flyash, smoke, noxious cdcrs, and ragweed pcllen. Our need for att is never mere than a breath away. It is our most priceless commcdity. The cooperation of everyone is needed to keep it clean for the health, comfort and general welfare of all who breathe the commen atmosphere.

7 Each year the League's Trustees elect an Area Adviscr/ Council for Air Pollution Control of abcut ene hundred members from area communities and indu s tries. They confer with our staff to evaluate pollutten problems of mutual concern to all communt:tes, and to consider acprocriate control measures.

S.. The area served includes Hamtlien and Clermont Ccunties, Chic, and Campbell, Kenten and Scenes Ccunties, Kentucky. Members cf the staff and trustees also serie on committees of nancnal crgarina:icns and on the bcards and ccmmittees of cther local health and welfare groucs.
