MAR 0 71979 APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Westinghouse Electric Corporation License No. SNM-1107 Columbia Nuclear Fuel Plant Based on the NRC inspection January 30 - February 2, 1979, certain of your activities were apparently not conducted in full compliance with NRC require-ments as indicated below. These items have been categorized as described in correspondence to you dated December 31, 1974.
As required by 10 CFR 20.203(e) and Condition 12 on license SNM-1107 each process, laboratory or warehouse area containing 0.1 microcuries or more of uranium-235 shall be conspicuously posted with a sign or signs stating " CAUTION - RADI0 ACTIVE MATERIALS". Additionally, as required by Condition 12 of license SNM-1107, each entrance shall be posted with a sign stating "Every container or vessel in this area may contain radioactive naterial." Depending on condition in an area, other posting specified in 10 CFR 20.203 may be required.
Contrary to the above, on January 30, 1979, a door from an outside area into the UF bay, which contains greater than 0.1 microcuries, was not 6
posted as a radioactive materials area and was not posted with the container warning sign.
On February 1, 1979, the same door was not posted as a radioactive materials area.
This is a deficiency.
