Dear Mr. Hoyle:

Enclosed please find a letter dated January 10,1979 from Harry Dooley, American Atomics Corporation, requesting an amendment to revise the quantities of tritium as sealed gaseous tritium light sources to be exported to Mexico in his application XB001001. The figures are revised as follows:

A maximum of 6000 curies of material to be exported per day. A total of 125,000 curies of material to be exported per month or a total authorization of 1,500,000 curies of material to be exported for one fear.

These revised figures have been discussed with Mr. Kratz, DOE, and are acceptable with his agency.

Before, taking action on this amendment, we would appreciate your views, in accordance with established procedures and from the overall perspective of the Executive Branch, as to whether the issuance of the requested license would be inimical to the interests of the United States, including the comon defense and security.

Sincerely, pExport/ImportandInternational erald G. Oplinger, Assistant Director Safeguards Office of Internstfonal Programs
