Dear Mr. Grier:

This letter is forwarded to provide prompt notification of Reportable Occurrence R0-79-1/lP as required by the Millstone Unit 1 Technical Specifications.

On January 6,1979, during a drywell inspection, water leakage in the vicinity of the Reactor' Water Cleanup System return line, was observed. line.

The leak was in the section of line between the inner isolation valve and the drywell penetration.

The piping in question is eight inch, stainless steel 304, schedule r.ighty.

At this time a repair is in progress to ullow plant operation to commence. A sample of the piping has been taken.

Further results will be in the follow up 14 day report.

Yours truly,
