NUSCALE POWER, LLC, ADVANCE SAFETY EVALUATION REPORT FOR LICENSING TOPICAL REPORT: TR-0915-17565, REVISION 3, ACCIDENT SOURCE TERM METHODOLOGY By letter dated April 23, 2019, NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale) submitted licensing topical report (TR) TR 0915 17565, Revision 3, Accident Source Term Methodology, dated April 21, 2019 (Reference 1, Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML19112A172nonproprietary version), for review and approval by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC). The TR describes a general methodology for developing accident source terms and performing the corresponding design basis accident and other required accident radiological consequence analyses to be referenced by the NuScale small modular reactor (SMR) design certification application, Part 2, final safety analysis report, and by other applications that reference the NuScale SMR design.

Based on its review of NuScales TR, the NRC staff prepared an advanced Topical Report Safety Evaluation (TRSE) (ADAMS Accession No. ML19277E655). The TRSE ADAMS accession number is being provided to support a meeting of the subcommittee of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) on November 20, 2019.

The NRC staff requests that the ACRS withhold the proprietary version of the TRSE from public disclosure.
