Su bj ec_t, UNPL ANNED, MINOR GASEOUS RADI ATION RELEASE With prc-test venting of the L' nit 2 Volure Control Tank (VCT) in progress, Waste Gas Processing Arca alarms were received for Units 1 and 2 at 10:50 a.m., 3/27/B0.

A local erergency was declaroo.

A precautionary evocuation of the Auxiliary Cuilding was ordered.

VCT venting was secured, and the release was stopped about 10:55 a.m.

The instantaneous release rate was 4.1% of the Technical Specification limit.

The offsite dose consequences reported were 7.34E-4 mr at a point south of the site (equivaknt to about 10 minutes of natural backrmnd radiation in the State of Maryland).

The local energency was secured af te the alarms were cleared.

This PN is issued for information only.

l'edia interest is possible because of sensitivity to c..diation releases.

The licensee has not decided whether to issue a press release.

No NRC press release is planned.

The State of Maryland has been informed.

The NRC Duty Df ficer was notified by OPX phone at 11:3B a.m.

and relayed preliminary information to NRC Region 1 at 11:45 a.m,
