SUBJECT:

DEVIAT106 ANALYSIS REPORT OF EXCESSIVE V0LTAGE DROPS IN ELECTRICAL CIRCUITPY WHICH MAY PREVENT OPERATION Or PERRY HYDR 0 GEN CONTROL SYSTEM GLOW PLUGS (B0ARD NOTIFICATION NO.85-069)

In accordance with the NRC procedures for Board Wotifications, we are hereby informing the Licensing Board of a CEICO Deviation Analysis Report (dated June 18, 1985), issued by CEICO (the applicant) pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55(e),

indicating the need to assess the safety impact caused by excessive voltage drop conditions found in electricel circuits associated with several nlant systems, including the Hydrogen Control System glow plugs. This excessive voltage condition may prevent. the glow plugs from operating when needed during a postulated degraded core accident event. The subject of glow plugs, a vital intcgral part of the Hydrogen Control System design, an isst'e litigated at the Board hearing April 30 - May 3,1985, is pending a Licensing Board decision.

The design deviation is under investigation by)the applicant and its Architect Engin regional inspectors as a 10 CFR 50.55(e) item, and must be resolved prior to Ferry, Unit I licensing.

(Unit I licensing is currently being targeted by the applicant for mid-September 1985).
