MEMORANDUM FOR:
E. Marinos, Reactor Systems Standards Branch, Office of Standards Development FROM:
F. Clemenson, Plant Systems Branch, Division of Operating Reactors
SUBJECT:
THE ACQUISITION OF ADDITIONAL INFORMATION RELATING TO THE LIMITORQUE ELECTRIC ACTUATORS WHEN MOUNTED ON VELAN NUCLEAR VALVES Attached is a copy of a report prepared by Velan Engineering Companies containing a considerable amount of information on the operating characteristics of the numerous models of Limitorque Electric Actuators when mounted on Velan valves.
The acquisition of this report was purely coincidental, since the purpose of my trip on April 3-4, 1979 was on an entirely different subject.
Should you still be engaged in the development of a Regulatory Guide entitled " Application of Torque Switches in Motor-0perated Valves Important to Safety" the attached report may be useful in developing a better understanding of the Limitorque Actuators and in the preparation of the Regulatory Guide. The report was not discussed with Velan Engineering Company representatives.
I have only had a chance to make a cursory review, therefore. I am not in a position to discuss its cor, tants at this time, k
