Project M-12 Mr. Alphonso Topp Radiation Protection Section Environmental Improvement Division P. O. Box 968, Crown Building Santa Fe, New Mexico 87503

Dear Mr. Topp:

As discussed in your April 6,1979 telephone conversation with Steve Manger, of my staff, our draft evaluation of the Bokum Resources pro-posal will not include the Radiological Assessment section.

This omission is necessary because we have received insufficient information from the applicant to complete a timely, yet thorough assessment.

It is our understanding that since the radiologic impac.ts of the project as discussed in our assessment are not germane to thei ground water plan, the absence of the radiological assessment will not impact the upcoming Bokum Groundwater Discharge Hearing.

If you have any questions, or if you wish to take exception with our approach, please feel free to call me.

Sincerely, l

Ross A. Scarano, Section Leader Uranium Mill Licensing Section Division of Fuel Cycle and Material Safety 79 th 10 DC>b
