SUBJECT:
REQUEST FOP,Af1ENDf1ENT TO LICENSE R-127 By means of this letter, I am requesting authorization to operate the Memphis State University model AGN-201 nuclear reactor continuou_ly at power levels up to 20 watts (thermal) and intermittently at power levels up to 1000 watts (thermal). Justification of this request is contained in propcsed amendment No. 1 to the Memphis State University facility operating license R-127 to be transmitted under separate cover.
This proposed amendment is consistent with the U. S. Naval Post-Graduate School Operating License R-11 as amended by the Commission January 31, 1962, and reported in Docket No. 50-43.
The purpose of this request is to allow Memphis State University to respond to contracts being offered for the purpose of medical research.
Contracts being offered require the Center for Nuclear Studies to respond as soon as possible to requests for irradiations with its reactor.
Therefore, I am requesting your expeditious handling of this request.
