(a) Packaging (1) Model No.: UCC-20WC-2 (2) Description A steel encased, wooden outer protective jacket with a uranium shielded cask and inner steel containment vessel. The protec-tive jacket is built to DOT Specification 20WC-2 with overall dimensions of about 25-1/4 inches by 28-3/4 inches high.

The shielded cask has a two-inch thick depleted uranium shield encapsulated in steel with a gasketed and bolted flange closure with an internal cavity 3.1-inch ID by 5-inch height. The inner containment vessel is a 2-1/2-inch Sch. 40 SS, gasketed and threaded pipe. The gross weight of the package is about 400 pounds.

Contents shall be contained within inner container described by Union Carbide Drawing No. 100712A, Rev. A.

The inner container shall show no leakage when tested to a sensitivity of at least 1x10 6 3

atm-cm /sec (1 atm of helium at 25 C leaking to a 1x10 2 atm ambient).

In addition, the neoprene gasket shall be replaced, and the inner container shall be leak tested, as described above, within 12 months prior to use.

The loaded inner container shall show no leakage when tested to a sensitivity of at least 1x10 5 atm-cm3/sec (1 atm of air at 25 C leaking to a lx10 2 atm ambient) prior to each shipment.

Structural parts of the packaging which could be used as tie-down devices shall be securely covered or locked during transport in such a manner as to prevent its use for that purpose.

The package authorized by this certificate is hereby approved for use under the general license provisions of 10 CFR 571.12(b).
