IIARRATIVE SD24ARY OF OPERATII!G EXPElIE!;CES PEACH BOTTOM U'IITS 2 and 3 Februart, 1979 UlIIT 2 The unit operated at full power until February 9 when a controlled chutdown was begun for a maintenance outage to repair an external leak on the reactor feed pump bypacc line. Additional work completed during the outage included feedwater heater leak repair, recombiner condencer leak repair and reactor feed pump external leak repair.

Maintenance work nac completed and the unit was returned to service on February 1h, reaching 1030 IOle on February 16. On February 16, a load reduction to $60 IG'o was taken to adjust the control rod pattern. Load was then increaced via a preconditioning rarp with full power being reached on February 13. On Februarf 19, during calibration of a feedwater flow trancaitter, n recirculation pump runback occurred resulting in a 90 IOle load reduction. Load was rectored immediately.

The unit operated at lated power until Febrnry 23 when a load reduction to 750 Isle was taken to perfom a rod cequence exchange and to repair a condencer leak. The unit then increased in load, via a preconditioning ramp, reaching full power on Februar/ 2h.

UIITT 3 The unit operated at rated power until February 2 when a load reduction to about $80 M4e was taken to adjust the control rod pattern. Following the adjustment, load was increased via a preconditioning ramp with full load being reached on February L. On February 25 a load drop of approximately 100 IOle was taken to accocmodate control rod adjustments.

On February 26, an incert colenoid on a control rod drive failed open, during normal control rod drive exercising, fully incerting the drive at normal drive speed. Following repairs to the colenoid valve, a load drop of 1$0 Nie was required to withdraw the control rod to its fo mer position. The unit returned to full power on February 27
