Summary of Call with GLE on September 30, 2019, to Discuss RAI on a Transportation Security Plan Date:

Tuesday, October 08, 2019 12:12:16 PM Closed Call Summary:

On September 30, 2019, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a closed call with staff from Global Laser Enrichment (GLE) to discuss a transportation security plan submitted by letter GLE-2019-0105 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System [ADAMS] Accession No. ML19198A084 - non-public). The NRC staff provided a draft version of the request for additional information (ADAMS Accession No. ML19274C840 - non-public) to ensure clarity. The discussion on the draft RAIs confirmed mutual understanding between the NRC and GLE staff. GLE indicated they need to have the security transportation plan completed by the end of October 2019 in order to complete shipment in 2019. Therefore, GLE will submit an updated transportation security plan based on the draft RAIs. The NRC staff stated the RAIs may change during concurrence. GLE indicated that if this occurs, they would provide additional responses, as needed. The NRC staff agreed to expedite the review in order to complete it by the end of October, provided GLE submits high quality RAI responses. GLE indicated they would submit a revised transportation security plan and a table summarizing the changes.

The call attendees were as follows:

GLE:

Pat Jenny, GLE Security and Licensing Manger and Gilberto Hernandez, GLE staff.

NRC:

Todd Keene, Acting Branch Chief for Information Security Branch (ISB);

Keith Everly, ISB; Alex Sapountzis, Materials and Waste Security Branch; and Matt Bartlett, Fuel Facilities Licensing Branch

Thanks.

Sincerely,

Matt Bartlett NMSS/FCSE/FFLB Fuel Cycle Project Manager 301-415-7154
