Subject:
PROPOSED EXPORTS OF LEU TO JAPAN Purcose:
To inform the Ccmission of additional information concerning proposed export license XSNM-1365.
Discussion:
Ccmission Action Paper, SECY-79-64 (Confidential),
advised the Ccmission that seven proposed exports of LEU fuel to Japan are now pending Comission approval.
One of those seven cases, XSNM01365, is the subject of the enclosed letters from General Electric Ccmpany.
General Electric advises that a critical transportation scheduling problem is iminent and unless a license is
-- - - obtained very scon, air shipment of the fuel at an added expense of over $100,000 will be involved.
The staff has been advised by G.E. that an export license is required by February 2 in order to avoid the necessity for air shipment.
