Lakeview Hospital, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin License No. 48-04585-01 Subien:

ORDER TO SHOW CAUSE AND ORDER SUSPENDING LICENSE (EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY)

This is to inform the Commission that an Order tc Show Cause why the license should not be revoked and Order Suspending License (Effective Immediately) is being issued today to Lakeview Hospital.

This action is based on alleged items of noncompliance relating to the administration during the last five years to certain hospital patients of approximately double the dosage for brain, bone, lung, liver and spleen scans called for by the hospital's written procedures. These activities were conducted by technicians without the knowledge, direction or supervision of the authorized users (physicians).

The action being taken by the NRC should not impact on the availability of health care treatment for patients since another hospital located near the Lakeview Hospital is authorized by NRC license to perform procedures involving radiopharmaceuticals which are authorized by the NRC license possessed by Lakeview Hospital.

Under the terms of the Order the licensee may, within 25 days of the date of the Order, file a written answer under oath or affirmation and may also request a hearing.

However, a written answer or request for a hearing will not stay the immediate effectiveness of this Order.

A news release will be' issued about the time the licensee receives tha Order.

The State of Wisconsin will be notified.
