The :;uclear Regulatory Commission has received your letters of April 30 and May 4 requesting the Commission to place in its Public Document Room copies of the "ranscripts of 13 meetings held by the Commission on nucluar export licensing matters.
As you are aware, each of those meetings was closed pursuant to Exemption 1 of the Sunshine Act since classified National Security Information was to be discussed.
The unclassified version of the minutes of the December 4, 1978 Briefing by the Executive Branch on Non-Proliferation Matters has alreadv been placed in the Commission's Public Document Room.
Similarly, the unclassified portions of the December 22, 1978 Discussion on International Safeguards-Export Matters have been placed in the Public Document Room.
Four of the remaining meetings have been transcribed and are now undergoing a classification review by the Department of State.
The other meetings are on tape and have not been transcribed.
These tapes are being reviewed by NRC and Executive Branch officials.
Once the NRC and the Executive Branch have completed the review of transcripts and tapes, we will make the segregable, unclassified portions available to you in transcript form.
