APR 4 mg Mr. Gary T. Hall, Senior Planner Salem County Planning Board Old Courthouse Salem, New Jersey 08079
Dear Mr. Hall:
Your letter of February 6,1979 to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission requesting a list of publications concerning nuclear-powered electric generating facilities and related issues has been referred to us for reply.
Enclosed is a list of publications which relate specifically to the areas in which you expressed interest, namely: cooling towers, transmission lines, and economic and social impacts.
In addition to those studies listed in Enclosure 1 relating to socio-economic impacts, we are in the process of completing two additional studies: one on the effect of nuclear power plant siting on property values, and another on the visual impact of alternative cooling systems.
Both of these studies should be completed by late July, and we will advise you of their availability.
The reports listed are general and, therefore, not related to any specific project.
For nuclear plants located in New Jersey, we have established local public document rooms.
Information related to the Salem and Hope Creek plants is available in the Salem Cree Public Library and that for Oyster Creek and Forked River is available at the Ocean County Library.
We hope this information will assist you in updating and expanding your resource materials.
Sincerely, Original Signed By Bo8erS.Boyd p

N 'WI. A TOR Y COMMISSION February 6, 1979 The Salem County Planning Staff is currently in the process of up-dating and expanding its resource materials concerned with nuclear-powered electric generating facilities and related issues. We would appreciate a list of your publications which might be relevant to this area of interest so that we can order the appropriate materials.
He have a strong interest in the many issues associated with nuclear energy since Salem County is the site of two operational nuclear power plants, with two additional units currently under construction. Some technical issues of particular interest to us are the environmental in-pacts of saltwater ecoling to.cers and high voltage transmission lines. At present we are also interested in assessing the economic and social impacts of the constructicn of a nuclear energy conplex in a rural area. The identi-fication of sources of information relevant to these two specitic topics would be very helpful to us.
Your assistance in this matter is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely, f,L(/
