Dear Ms. Kesler:

This is in response to your letter dated March 19, 1979 in which you requested, pursuant to the' Freedom of Information Act, copies of records regarding licensee event reports, NRC inspection reports, effects of the piant on the environment, and the plant disaster evacuation plan for the Salem Nuclear Generating Plant.

This confirms your telephone conversation on March 29 with Ms. Ellen Whitlow of my staff, in which she informed you that the documents subject to your request are located at the NRC Local Public Document Room (LPDR) in the Salem Free Public Library,112 West Broadway, Salem, N.J.

For your information, the User's' Guide and LPDR diagrams located at the library will provide you the appropriate file locations for the requested records. The files are as follows: A biweekly computer printout of Licer,see Event Reports (LERs); the Inspection File and Inspection Folder; the Environmental File and Environmental Folder; the New Jersey State PIPAG Plan; and the Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR).

Chapter 12.9 of Vol. 4 of the FSAR contains the plant's Emergency Plan.

Additional information regarding the effects of the plant on the Delaware Bay may be available from the Delaware River Basin Commission.

As Ms. Whitlow informed you, the plans concerning emergency civilian evacuation are the responsibility of the State government.

You should contact the Division of Emergency Planning and Operations, Delaware State Department of Public Safety, regarding these plans.
