Dear Mr. Gammill:

In reply to your letter of October 2, 1979, Georgia Power Company elects not to waive the requirement of taking the entire indoctrination course on radiation safety at Plant Hatch to those NRC staff members who have taken the radiation safety course given by Oak Ridge Associated Universities. The reason for this denial to your request is because the site specific parts of our course are not sufficiently separated from the basic parts.

It remains the policy of Georgia Power Company to cooperate with the NRC to whatever lengths practical on matters of this type. However, to waive these requirements would require some restructure of our present curriculum which includes, but is not limited to, security requirements, ecol control area indoctrination, and other items of emphasis inserted into the course to resolve past problems resulting from lack of familiarization with policies and practices unique to Plant Hatch.

Yours truly, R. J. Kelly WH0/mb xc: Ruble A. Thomas George F. Trowbridge, Esquire R. F. Rogers, III 1421 233 Root 5
