In response to the corresponding itens of the subject bulletin, the following is provided:

I t en 1. A current set of DOI' and hRC regulations concerning the transfer, packaging and transport of low-level radioactive waste rmterial is nnintained at Arkansas Nuclear One. These regulations are readily available to responsible personnel.

Itun 2. We have naintained at Arkansas Nuclear Che a current set of requirarents placed on the Barnwell facility by the Agreenent State of South Carolina prior to shiprents to Barnwell. Even though other facilities are not currently used, the States of Nevada and Washington wilI be contacted to obtain a current set of their regulations.

Itan 3. Although no individual has previously been designated in writing, the IIcalth Physics Supervisor at Arkansas Nuclear One has been responsible in the past for the safe trans fer, packaging and transport of loelevel radioactive nnterial. We will assure that a person is designated in writing by October 15, 1979 to perfonn these tasks.

A plan for implenentation of the reconnandations of the audi t required in Item 8, IE Bulletin 79-19, will be provided by Deconber 1,1979.

Iten 5. A plan for implenentation of a training and periodic retraining program in the IXE and NRC regulatory require-ments, the waste burial license requironents, and in our instructions and operating procedures will be provided by Deconber 1,1979.

Iten 6. A plan for implenentation of a training and periodic re-training progran for those anployees wno operate the processes which generate waste wilI be provided by Decenber 1,1979.

Item 7. A nnnaganent-controlled audit will be performed as neces-sary, but a mininun of once a year, of all transfer, packaging and transport activities to provide assurance that personnel, instruct ions and procedures, and process and transport equipnent are functioning to ensure safety and conpliance with regulatory requirenents.

I t en 8. A managenent controlled audi t of our activi ties associated with the transfer, packaging and transport of low-level radio-active wuste has been performed. A record of al 1 audi ts wt i i be naintained for future inspection by NRC or IXE inspectors.

Following a review of reconmndations fran the audi t required by IE Bulletin 79-19, Iten 8, a plan of action for Itans 4, 5 and 6 will be provided by Deconber 1,1979.

The following is provided to answer the questions asked on page 3 of IE Bulletin 79-19 for 1978 and the first six nunths of 1979:

1. For 1978, 26 shipmnts of low-level radioactive wastes were nnde.

'lhis consisted of approximately 7850 cubic feet. For the first six months of 1979, 10 shipnents of low-level radioactive waste were made. 'Ihis consisted of approxiantely 5041 cubic feet.

2. For 1978, approximately 460 curies of low-level radioactive waste were shipped. For the first six nunths of 1979, approximately 750 curies of low-level radioactive waste were shipped. 'Ihe major isotooes in the low-level radio-active waste included:

3. Liquid radioactive waste was generated. No liquid radio-active waste was solidfied or shipped, but was processed, treated, and released in accordance with Technical Speci-fication limits.
