The Commission's public proceedings branch has asked this office to reply to your. letter of September 5,1972, insofar as it requests 30 days notice of any operating license hearing that may be held in the sub. ject proceeding..
As you are apparently aware, the Csamission has not yet acted on the petition to intervene.that was filed by Citizens for a Safe Environment.and the Environmenta1 X '. Coalition of Nuclear Power.
In the event this petition is granted, the Commission will publish a notice of hearing in the Federal Register. By letter dated September 7.1972, the public proceedings branch agreed to send you a copy of.any such notice when it is issued.
We anticipate that any notice of hearing issued in this proceeding would leave the exact time and place of the hearings.to be determined by the presiding Atemis Safety and Licensing Board during prehearing procedure. including at least two prehearing conferences. Accordingly,_any party to the proceeding would have an opportunity during the prehearing phase of the case to be heard on the-question of the timing of the hearings.
