Dear Sir:
I as the owner of a residential property fronting on the Susquehanna River in the Borough of Goldsboro, York County, Pa.
I understand that a nuclear station is being planned by the Metropolitan 2dison Company on 3 Mile Island in the Susquehanna.
River, opposite the Borough, and that the installation is to be approved by.the Atomic Energy Commission.
"he Susquehanna River, at this location, has, already, b' ene dammed by the Metropolitan Edison Company and the York Haven Mill
,Co=pany.
The effect of the dam has been to increase high water eleva:Lons up river, which are at the critical stage during periods-of flooding and high water and periods of ja= ming of ice.
It is hoped that in the new construction that no furthcr d6minution of the flood plain of the river by construction of dykes, fills or other obstructions in the bed of the river is contemplated.
Otherwise, I feel that the residences anc land now subject to
' occasional or ninor flooding will become = ore severely flooded, because of the reduced area of the flood plain.
I have discussed this probability with a group of my neig51bors, who have residences in the area subject to flooding under currezit conditions,.and they are aprehensive of the effect of the proposed programme.
