s In the AEC letter of January 22, 1974, ue uere requested to provide you with infor=atica so that you eny determine "if quality nssurance personnel have suf ficient authority and organi::ational freedon to perform their critical functions effectively and without reservation". i We believe that the quality Ascurance personnel assigned to these i projects do have the necessary authority and organi::ational freeden. We ) also believe that the subject dockets contain the necessary infornation i to allou the AEC to rake a positivo datemination on this question. For Unit 1 (Docket 50-289) the enclosed amendreut (45) identifies i the references in the FSAR uhere the infornation is contained. The amendnent i also contains clarifying notes where they we:c-deemed necessary. Five copies of the amendment are enclosed, the recainder are being shipped under separate cover. For Unit 2 (Docket 50-320) exactly the sar.e Quality Assurance philosophy applies. Houever, sines ue intend to cubnit the FSAR uithin the ne::t uaek I ue would like to defer our reply.
