Three liile Island Unit 1 (TMI-1) Ims two of the Westinghouse-Buffalo motors of the group found to have slow starting characteristics.
In response to an inquiry by P.egulatory Operations (RO),
Metropolitan Edison Company wrote to Dr. Knuth of RO on February 4, 1974 justifying the use of these two motors, without modificaticn, to power the two

After seme internal discussien with Technical Review we asked the applicant on March 29, 1974 to submit a reanalysis with corroborating test data.
The licensee responded by letter of May 14, 1974 TR reviewed that response under TAR-962 and reported on July 9, 1974 that the licensee's analysis was insufficient to resolve the question of the motor's adequacy.
Further inquiries ware transmitted to the licensee by our letter of July 26, 1974.
