Virginia Electric and Power Company North Anna Power Station, Unit #1 Attachment: Page 1 of I Docket No. 50-338 Report No. LER 79-094/03L-0

Description of Event

On July 26, 1979, during normal power operation, ventilation stack particulate radiation monitor RM-VG112 failed. The detector was inoperable for approximately 10 hours1.157407e-4 days
0.00278 hours
1.653439e-5 weeks
3.805e-6 months
.

Probable Consequences of Occurrence The consequences of this event were limited because ventilation stack gas radia-tion monitor RM-VGil3 remained operable at all times to monitor the vent stack gasses and because the Environmental Technical Specifications were never violated.

As a result, the health and safety of station personnel and the general public were not affected by this event. This equipment is shared by Unit I and Unit 2.

Cause

Radiation monitor RM-VGil2 became inoperable as a result of a power supply failure.

Immediate Corrective Action

The Vepco Instrument Department ordered a new power supply and connected a temporary power supply to operate the detector until the new parts arrive.

Scheduled Corree;ive Action The Vepco Instrument Department will install the new power supply as soon as they receive it and unit operating conditions permit.

Actions Taken to Prevent. Recurrence No further actions required.
