DOCKET NO.

Dear Mr. Ring:

This is in partial response to your letters dated June 22 and June 26, 1979 in which you requested, pursuant to the Freedom of Information Act, copies of records relating to wastewater discharges from the Pilgrim I

~

Nuclear Power Plant.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has established an NRC Local Public Document Room (LPDR) in Plymouth Public Library, North Street, Plymouth, Massachusetts. is a listing of the categories of information which is on file in the LPDR.

The purpose of the LPDR is to provide access to all publicly available agency records relating to the Pilgrim facility to interested persons who live in the vicinity of the facility.

We have confirmed that the gaseous, liquid and solid waste releases from the Pilgrim I Plant are reported in semi-annual " Radioactive Effluent Reports" and annual " Environmental Radiation Monitoring Program Reports",

and that they are available in the LPDR's " Environmental File."

In addition, this data is compiled annually in a report entitled " Radioactive Material Release from Nuclear Power Plants" which is also available at the LPDR.

Records subject to your request are also contained in the

" Reportable Occurrences", " Inspection", and " Environmental" files.

A printout of License Events is contained in the " Power Reactor-Biweekly Reportable Occurrence Computer Printout Folder." Also, you may wish to refer to Part 20, Appendix B of NRC and to the Er.vironmental Technical Specifications of the Pilgrim I license, both of which are in the LPDR.

All records in the LPDR are available for public inspection.

An appointment can be made with Janet Hourse (617-746-1927) at the LPDR who can provide assistance in locating these records.

Si cerely,

/
