/bx %Vn Federal Register Notice NIELEAR PIGULATORY COMMISSION ADVISORY C04MITTEE ON REACTCR SAFEGUARDS SUBCOMMITTEE ON EXTREME EXTE?.NAL PHENO 4ENA Notice of Meeting h e ACRS Subcommittee on Extreme External Phenomena will hold an open meeting on January 9,1979 at the Department of Energy Aua'.corium 2753 South Hyland Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89102 to review NRC sponsored research regarding seismic design of nuclear power plants. Notice of this meeting was published October 20, November 20,1978 (43 FR 49080, 54147, respectively).

In accordance with the procedures outlined in the Federal Registei on October 4,1978 (43 FR 45926), oral or written statements may be presented by members of the public, recordings will be permitted only during those portions of the meeting when a transcript is being kapt, and questions may be asked only by members of the Subcommittee, its consultants, and Staff.

Persons desiring to make oral statements should notify the Designated Federal Dnployee as far in advance as practicable so that appropriate arrangement.s can be made to allow the necessary time during the meeting for such statements.

He agenda for subject meeting shall be as follows:

Tuesday, January 9,1979 8:30 a.m. until the conclusion of business.

He Subcommittee may meet in Executive Session, with any of its consultants who may be present, to explore and exchange their prelimi-nary opinions regarding matters which should be considered during the meeting and to formulate a report and reconmendations to the full Committee.

. At the conclusion of the Executive Session, the Subcomnittee will hear presentations by and hold discussions with representatives of the NRC Staff, and their consultants, pertinent to the above topics.

'Ibe Subcommittee may then caucus to determine whether the matters identified in the initial session have been adequately covered and whether the project is ready for review by the full Committee.

Further information regarding topics to be discussed, whether the meet-ing has been cancelled or rescheduled, the Chairman's ruling on requests for the opportunity to present oral statements and th time allotted therefore can be obtained by a prepaid telephone call to the Designated Federal Employee for this meeting, Dr. Richard P.
