t si ,, ,

March 19, 1979 Mr. Robert L. Baer, Chief Light Water Reactors Branch No. 2 Division of Project flanagement U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission 7920 Norfolk Avenue Bethesda, Maryland 20852

Dear Mr. Baer:

P. B. H a ga Y'"'"'."' * '*

RE: DOCKET NO. STN 50-437; FNP PHYSICAL SECURITY This letter responds to your letter dated flarch 1,1979.

Offshore Power Systems acknowledges its responsibility to provide physical protection features in the design of the Floating Nuclear Plant, particularly those plant features required by 10 CFR 73.55. Further, we agree that the development of an overall security plan is the plant owner's responsibility.

As in the past, Offshore Power Systems will continue to factor the need for physical security into the evolving design of the Floating Nuclear Plant. We are prepared at the plant owner's option, to assist in site selection and development of a physical security plan which most effectively utilizes the design features of the Floating Nuclear Plant. At a minimum, however, Offshore Power Systems will apprise each plant owner of the plant design features provided in compliance with 10 CFR 73.55.

Revisions to Section 13.7 reflecting these commitments will be included in the next amendment to the Plant Design Report.
