4 UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION
}
WASHINGTON, D. C. 20555 g
March 9, 1979 OFF10E OF THE CH AIRM AN The Honorable Jennings Randolph, Chaiman Comnittee on Environment and Public Works United States Senate Washington, D. C. 20S10
Dear Mr. Chaiman:
Before the 96th Congress is too far underway, I want to take a moment to thank you for your efforts in the last Congress toward securing consolidation of the Nuclear Regulatory Comission headquarters at a single location in the Washington metropolitan area and to reiterate the Comission's position that early consolidation is among our highest priorities.
The present scattering of the NRC flock to nine locations goes beyond mere inconvenience.
It represents a serious hindrance to efficient operations.
My fellow Comissioners and I are hopeful that any remaining obstacles to consolida-tion can be successfully resolved as expeditiously as possible.
(our understanding and help in this matter has been and continues to be appreciated.
' Sincerely,
/
