20555 Attention:

Mr. L. C. Rouse, Chief Gentlemen:

Reference:

Docket 70-1359; SNM 1405 IRT Corporation will be relocating its entire operations to new facilities within the next two years.

IRT Corporation is purchasing an eight acre plot of land located in the Torrey Pines Science Park approximately one-half mile northwest of our present Linear Accelerator Site on Torrey Pines Mesa. By the end of the first year, it is expected that the Linear Accelerator complex operations will be relocated to the new site and the remaining company opera-tions now at 7070 and 7650 Convoy Court will be relocated by the end of the second year. Additional information concerning the site facilities and opera-tions will be supplied to you in the near future.

In order to minimize the licensing and review efforts for both IRT Corporation and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, IRT Corporation requests that the expi-ration date of its present license, SNM 1405, be extended for a period of one year to March 31, 1980, so that the renewal application can address the new facilities.

During the extension period, IRT Corporation will submit an appli-cation for renewal of its license or, if appropriate, a new application based upon the new facilities and current operations.

IRT will also make application for a separate license to cov3r limited activities at the Convoy Court Facil-ities until such time as the entire company operations have been relocated.

It is believed that this request constitutes an administrative amendment and carries a fee of $150. Enclosed is a check for that amount.

Thank you for your consideration and if you have any questions or need addi-tional information, please call Mr. K. L. Crosbie at (714) 565-7171, ext. 378.
