APPROVAL OF PROPOSED ALTERNATE REVIEWING OFFICIALS FOR THE GENERAL ELECTRIC VALLECITOS NUCLEAR CENTER
Dear Mr. Feyrer:
This is in response to your submittal dated May 2, 2019 (non-public), requesting U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) authorization for Mr. Jeffrey Alan Smyly to serve as an NRC-Approved Reviewing Official (RO) for NRC License Number SNM-960 (Docket Number 07000754) and NRC License Number SNM-1270 (Docket Number 07001220) for the General Electric-Hitachi (GEH) Vallecitos Nuclear Center (VNC). In addition, in your submittal you requested that the NRC remove Mr. Mark Leik from this role.
We have completed our review of the submittal. The NRC staff has determined that Mr. Smyly meets the criteria for serving as an RO. Therefore, the NRC staff has approved Mr. Smyly as an RO for the above referenced NRC licenses for the VNC. In addition, as requested, the NRC staff is removing Mr. Mark Leik from the VNCs list of NRC-Approved ROs.
The ROs must maintain and protect all fingerprints and Federal Bureau of Investigation criminal history records, other related records, and are authorized to grant access to Safeguards Information, as specified in the Orders. Please note that if GEH wishes to assign new or additional ROs, the NRC must approve each individual before he/she can act in that position.
In accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Section 2.390, Public inspections exemptions, requests for withholding, of the NRCs Agency Rules of Practice and Procedure, a copy of this letter will be available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room, or from the Publicly Available Records Component of NRCs ADAMS.
