7590-01 UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COM.'1ISSION DOCKET NO. 50-293 BOSTON EDIS0N COMPANY Nt.4CE OF ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENT TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (the Commission) has issued Amendment No. 37 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-35, issued to Boston Edison Company (the Licensee), which revised the license for operation of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station Unit No.1 (the facility) located near Plymouth, Massachusetts. The amendment becomes effective on February 23, 1979.

The amendment adds a license condition to include the Commission-approved physical security plan as part of the license.

The licensee's filings comply with the standards and requirements of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Commission's rules and regulations.

The Commission has made appropriate findings as required by the Act and the Commission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Chapter I, which are set forth in the license amendment.

Prior public notice of this amendment was not required since the amendment does not involve a significant hazards consideration.

The Connission has determined that the issuance of this amendment.

will not result in any significant environmental impact and that pursuant to 10 CFR Section 51.5(d)(4), an environmental impact statement or negative declara'. ion and environmental impact appraisal need not te prepared 'in connection with issuance of this amendnent.
