UHEREAS, the County Board of the County of,Putnam has been informed tnat a public utility has suggested that a ,.

a WHEREAS, the land in said township is among the finest ji. . . .

and most productive farmland in the world, and should be kept for agricultural use, and WHEREAS, numerous citizens of Putnam County have re- i' quested that the Board oppose construction of a nuclear power , ,,

plant anywhere within the County of Putnam, and WHEREAS, the County Board feels that the potential for .t,7 disaster from the construction of such a plant within the county presents a clear and present danger to the safety and dl,

power plant under many circumstances has not been proven to a ,

reasonable degree, and Uhereas, the County Board feels that the dangers inherent in the construction of such a plant within the County of Putnam G' far outweir.h any advantar,es which might accrue to the county, NON, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the County Board of the County of Putnam, Illinois, as follows:

That the County Board of the County of Putnam is un-alterably and irrevocable opposed to the construction of a nuclear power plant within the County of Putnam, Illinois, and '

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that all county officers and of ficials are hereby authorized and directed to take all action necessary to prevent the construction of a nuclear power plant within the County of Putnam, Illinois.
