7590-01 UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY CO MISSION DOCKET NO. 50-271 VERMONT YANKEE NUCLEAR POWER CORPORATION NOTICE OF ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENT TO FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE The U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Comission (the Commission) has issued Amendment No. 50 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-28, issued to Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Corporation (the licensee), which revised the Technical Specifications for operation of the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station (the facility), located near Vernon, Vemont. The amendment is effective as of the date of its issuance.

The amendment revised the Technical Specifications to incorporate requirements for establishing and maintaining the drywell to suppression chamber differential pressure and suppression chamber water level, to maintain the margins of safety established in the NRC staff's " Mark I Containment Short Term Program Safety Evaluation", NUREG-0408. Operation in accordance with the conditions specified in NUREG-0408 has been previously authorized in 43 FR 13118, March 29,1978.

The applications for the amendment comply with the standards and requirements of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954, as amended (the Act), and the Commission's rules and regulations. The Comission has made appropriate findings as required by the Act and the Comission's rules and regulations in 10 CFR Chapter I, which are set forth in the license amendment.

Prior public notice of this amendment was not required since the amendment does not involve a significant hazards consideration.
